If you are getting your home ready to put on the market, here are a few easy ideas and projects that you can do to get your home ready to sell. Start by taking a quick stroll around the outside of your house, and pretend that you are seeing it for the first time as a prospective buyer. Consider that first impressions only happen one time!

Your gutters and downspouts should be clean and in good repair. Remove leaves and any other debris from view. Replace those gutters and downspouts that are rusty or dented. Paint your front door, garage door and any trim. Anything that is chipped should be touched up with fresh paint.

You will then want to move on to cleaning your windows and siding. This project can be accomplished with an attachment for your garden hose. You might also rent a power washer. You should start at the top of the house and work your way down. Broken, cracked or damaged windows should be replaced. While you are cleaning, you might want to spray down the porch, and front walk as well. If your home is painted, assess it honestly, and hire professional painters to paint the outside if necessary. This project does require some expertise, so, if you are not an expert, it may be best not to attempt it on your own.

Next assess your landscaping. Remove any bushes or plants that are not in good shape. Adding color or flowering plants can do a lot for the atmosphere around your home. Then, break out your gardening tools. Trim any trees and bushes you may have on the property. Finally, use mulch to tie your landscaping together.

The last project is to clean and organize your outdoor living space. Your porch, deck, and back yard should be as comfortable and inviting as your family room. Remove all clutter from these areas. Make sure you have some warm lighting. Some comfortable furniture and accents can make your space attractive, unique, and cozy. Do your best to pick a theme for these outdoor spaces and keep that theme consistent from front to back!

These are just a few ideas that will make your home shine in the memories of potential buyers.
