Longboat Key, Florida – Visit Paradise

Located on Florida’s west coast, Longboat Key is a skinny 12 mile barrier island drenched in sun. With about 8,000 permanent residents and more during peak vacation time, there is room enough on this island to stretch out and enjoy the rays.

Longboat Key is known as being a very private island. However, more and more people are vacationing on this island. Many of these repeat visitors end up buying a home or condo on the island. There are a variety of Sarasota FL real estate options. You can find a multi-million dollar home on the beach all of the way to an affordable efficiency.

There are a variety of things to do on Longboat Key. Feel like shopping? Take a short drive down to St. Armands Circle and go shopping. Feel like exploring the waters around Longboat Key and Sarasota? Go to Cannons Marina and rent a boat so you can enjoy a day on the water. The Longboat Key Club offers 45 holes of golf and numerous tennis courts. However, they are only available to members of the club or guests of the Resort at the Longboat Key Club.

Beach lovers really cherish the beaches along Longboat Key. They are much different than those on Siesta Key. Since there are very beach access points you will not find large crowds. In fact you can walk along the gorgeous Gulf of Mexico a see very few people. It is great for a romantic stroll along with your loved one.

The Quick Point Nature Preserve is dedicated to the preserving the natural habitat provided by lagoons and mangroves to provide food and prevent excessive corrosion. This preserve offers a pristine natural lagoon, a man made lagoon as well as mangroves. The Lagoons are home for a variety or incredible wading birds like the Snowy Egret, Osprey and White Ibis.

There is easy access to plenty of great meals here. All of the nice restaurants on St. Armands Circle are within a short drive. The Salty Dog on City Island offers tasty food and breathtaking water views. On the north end of the island where it is a little quieter you can enjoy a great meal at Mar Vista. This an old house with tons of charm on the water.

Longboat Key, Florida is one of the nicest places in the sunshine state. Visit here and you will understand why there are so many repeat visitors to the island. It provides residents and visitors an exciting yet relaxing time. There has been reports of oil in this area so you can rest assure that its beauty will remain in tact. This is the perfect vacation spot to enjoy with your family.
