One of the most popular selling rug style happens to be that of runner rugs. They serve a number of different purposes and there’s a good chance you’ll need one at some point in your life.

While many owners of runner rugs get them for the fact that they look great, there’s additional use that people get out of runner rugs too. They’re found in many places, and are common in homes, offices, hotels, and more.

Placed in hallways sometimes, runner rugs can make a really nice accent piece on an ordinarily plain floor. They also make it easier to walk on, providing some extra softness to the floor.

Another popular use of runner rugs is in stairways. While traditional stairway carpeting can cost a lot of money, runners are more affordable when used to pad stairs.

Runner rugs on stairs make the process of walking up and down the stairs easier, since they’ll be softer on your feet. It’s also a great safety measure since wet wooden stairs can easily lead to a nasty fall.

There are temporary uses for these rugs as well. In my apartment building, for example, a rug like this is always placed on the floor of the lobby whenever it rains.

Floors inside a lobby aren’t ordinarily carpeted, and when they get wet, they’re quite dangerous. Since so many people walk in and out of shared lobbies, the water from wet shoes can accumulate really quickly.

Aside from the design of the runner rug that you choose, you’ll also want to choose the length, width, and thickness. The bigger and thicker ones will generally be more expensive, and the material will have an impact on the price as well.

When shopping for runner rugs, you’ll want to carefully take the measurements of the space you have in mind in advance. Think of the design elements of the room as well. As long as the size and design go hand in hand, you’ll have a highly enjoyable decorative piece in your home or workplace.
