Many American cities have seen population shifts in the last few decades. For some, this change is detrimental, with population shifting towards areas with more to offer. The opposite effect can be seen in Tyler, Texas. Its population jumped from 83,650 to over 100,000 since the 2000 census. The city gains new residents for many reasons, including its location, attractions, work and schools. The new development Tyler provides the space and housing needed for this growing population.

Tyler, Texas is easy to reach. It has its own local airport. The city can be accessed by rail and by interstates. The climate is humid in the summer and cool in the winter, with some unpredictable weather that doesn’t regularly affect travel.

The downtown in Tyler has been recently updated. A brand new Business, Arts and Culture District was launched in 2008. Local events include art, music, and other sponsored functions.

Tyler has many other attractions that could be contributing to its development. There are various museums to explore in Tyler, including the 1859 Goodman-Legrand Home, American Freedom Museum, and museums celebrating aviation, local Texas history, model trains, and American industries. There are zoos and safari parks, water and skate parks. Wineries and performing art centers add a distinct flavor of entertainment.

In terms of education, Tyler has the typical public school opportunities. However, it also boasts several private schools. Tyler is the home of two university campuses. These are the University of Texas at Tyler and the University of Texas Health Center at Tyler.

In the city, there are many work opportunities that could be fueling the new development. Medical professionals are employed in high numbers, due to the influx of patients from the surrounding area. Factory work is prevalent, with companies such as Trane, Tyler Pipe, Carrier, or Brookshire Grocery all employing a significant work force. Tyler is mostly known for its roses. It is the home of twenty percent of the global rose sales. Surprisingly, the city also seems to be an excellent place to retire as well as work. It was rated highly as a place for retirees.

Tyler has an increase in population that has resulted in a lot of real estate growth. It has many new developments, from single home properties to large and ambitious developments. The Crossing, one of many new developments there, is a neighborhood that incorporates building needs and a respect and appreciation of nature. There are mansions and homes two years or younger available through a variety of real estate companies. The wealthy buyer can find luxurious properties, such as a $1.5 million home with guest house, pool, and garage. Those looking for value in a smaller home will have no trouble finding a property for under $50,000.
