Your home is your heaven. One can visualise heaven as being the most beautiful place to live.

Why can’t we make our little heaven the most beautiful place to live on earth? What can we do to make our home beautiful? Instead of working on everything altogether, focus on one thing. Let us start with the curtains in your rooms.

It is not a simple thing to go out and purchase curtains from the market. If you feel curtains are not a very essential component of your home, then you are misguided. Beautiful curtains can truly beautify your rooms if they are chosen smartly. Three main factors must be considered prior to selecting the curtains. The first factor to be noticed is the material and texture of the curtains; second is their colour; third is their price and your budget.

Depending upon your room’s temperature, get a curtain that has a heat resistant texture and that is relatively less bright in colour. This will help to preserve coolness and also decrease the intensity of light. This will also facilitate your air conditioner to work much more efficiently for longer. If you are choosing a curtain for your bedroom, it should be complementing your mood and nature. If you have a sober personality, go for a less sleek and silky texture. You can use blinds also. If you are very dynamic, go for something bright.

Colours play a vital role in enhancing the splendour of your room. Whilst selecting the colours of curtains, always keep in mind the colour on your room’s wall. Don’t forget the colour of your carpet at the time of choosing the curtains. If your carpet has lines on it, then dotted curtains will not go with it. If you want to make a match of dots and stripes, be very careful with colours of both designs.

When talking about a drawing room, go for something very elegant and stylish. Keep the colour of carpet and furniture in mind. Search for light and cool colours to evoke the sense of soberness. For a TV room or living room, choose anything that attracts you at first sight. But again keep the colour of walls, carpet and furniture in mind.

Now comes an essential factor, and that is budget. If your wallet is full, it is still suggested not to buy your curtains without bargaining. Reason is the changing styles and trends. It’s better to make a purchase sensibly. Buy a quality product at a low price. You can change that curtain any time, with the change of trends, without having much loss.

While discussing about curtains, we can also consider drapes as well. Drapes are hung with a rod and are easy to move. They are full in length and are easily available in various styles in the market. They are more formal and can be a part of drawing room or guest room very effectively. Curtains on the other hand are tied and can be opened to cover the full window. Shades and louvers can support the curtains if you have light issues. If you want to avoid maximum light then it is recommended to have lined curtains.
